Contributes to the Risk Management (RM) plan by identifying, analyzing, reducing risk for LAMMICO and its insureds. Participates in the development and implementation of the RM program to individual and large group and healthcare facility insureds including hospitals, long term care and other facilities in their assigned states.

Reports directly to the Manager of Risk Management and Patient Safety
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Works in a cooperative manner with management, coworkers, customers, and vendors; seeks to support LAMMICO’s mission and vision in daily operations
Contributes to the development of the department’s strategic and operating planning and meets assigned target dates and objectives; helps ensure that department quality, service and productivity standards are met
Conducts review and analysis of medical malpractice claims for insured individuals, groups, hospitals, long term care and other facilities in assigned territory
Conducts assessment for assigned individual and group medical practices and healthcare facilities including hospitals, long term care and other facilities in their assigned territory; provides insureds with loss prevention and loss control interventions that are consistent with RM principles
Provide RM consultation to assigned physician practices including large physician groups and healthcare facilities
Conducts telephone consultation with individual, group medical practices, and healthcare facilities
Develops and presents live and online RM education seminars for physician practices including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nursing staff, and other medical office staff
Conducts loss analysis for assigned territory based on internal and external data/information
Evaluates territory loss and make comparisons to the book of business and draw conclusions for developing and implementing loss prevention and loss control interventions
Collaborate with the Facility Risk Manager to implement action plans to reducing GL risk for all facility types
Collaborates with the Long Term Care Specialist to implement action plans to reduce PL risk in these facilities
Reports to the assigned Committees regarding insureds risk profile
Serves as RM expert to LAMMICO insureds
Secondary Functions/Responsibilities
Other responsibilities and special projects as assigned
Attends LAMMICO seminars presented by physician specialists
Attends seminars/conferences for LAMMICO’s marketing department, as assigned
Required
Education, Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in nursing
Current license in nursing
3-5 years of experience in the Risk Management, quality improvement, or other healthcare related field
4-6 years of experience in nursing
Formal presentation skills to large audiences
Experience interacting with physicians and/or other healthcare professionals
Experience in data analysis
Strong customer focus and team orientation
Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive company
Commitment to continuing industry and individual functional education
Excellent communications skills with the ability to interact and work effectively with employees at all levels within and outside of the organization
Ability to manage time, set priorities, and work independently and in cooperation with others when appropriate; ability to organize, analyze, and interpret information
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs
Must have continuous and uninterrupted access to reliable transportation; must maintain driver’s license and insurance as required by state
Frequent travel up to 50% of the time with some overnight stay required
Desired
ARM and/or CPHRM certification
Insurance industry experience
Experience in medical malpractice arena
Master’s Degree in healthcare or insurance related fields
