Position Summary

The Regional Manager of Inflight Experience & Performance leads our centralized Crewmember Performance who is responsible for engaging our crewmembers on performance, related investigations and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). This role also owns the disciplinary grievance process. This position will support the development and execution of policies, processes, and programs related to the disciplinary action. Additionally, the Manager will work closely with Labor Relations and Crew Relations to assist the field with various training programs, and reporting relevant information to drive positive change and compliance with the CBA. The role will support engagement and culture initiatives meant to strengthen our relationship with crewmembers.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of Performance Supervisors across our Inflight network; through which investigations are conducted as required and performance concerns are processed in a way that ensures equality and close compliance with all relevant policies and our CBA.
  • Serves as the networks subject matter expert on Disciplinary Grievance Process and executes in a manner that ensures maximum efficiency, consistency and fairness.
  • Work collaboratively with Crew Relations, Labor Relations and Legal team on all disciplinary matters, to ensure compliance with CBA, all laws, and consistency among our workforce.
  • Works within the Inflight Base environment, and in close partnership with Inflight Operational Supervisors, Administrators and General Managers (GM’s).
  • Develop and oversee the process and strategy for the CBA Dispute Resolution pertaining to Disciplinary action.
  • Develop and oversee all processes around disciplinary grievance processing to include oversight of disciplinary grievance processing and tracking, research required for disciplinary grievance hearings, compliance to all timelines, participation in and preparation for all disciplinary grievance mediation and arbitration, and disciplinary grievance reporting / tracking for the network.
  • Partner with Operational Supervisors, Base Managers and GMs to review disciplinary outcomes for crewmembers, owning final decision with input from stakeholders (operational Supervisors, Base Managers and GMs) – to uphold fair and consistent practices in line with company policies.
  • Network owner for Progressive Guidance and Discharge Letters; using all resources available to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with company standards in both drafting and delivery.
  • Manage and lead Americans with Disability Act (ADA) program for the Inflight network.
  • Partner with and support Base Leadership for crewmember engagement events and programs to promote wellbeing and retention.
  • Help identify and measure the touchpoints across the hire-to-retire journey and identify any opportunities and challenges.
  • Nurture and harvest JetBlue Culture by participating in Welcome to Inflight/New Hire Graduation.
  • All members of Inflight Leadership team must obtain Inflight qualification, remain current, and able to operate within the role of Inflight crewmember.
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Experience And Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Five (5) years of experience within the aviation sector
  • Three (3) years of leadership experience
  • Experience in leading projects/major strategic initiatives
  • Able to establish and maintain effective relationships in the field and with multiple workgroups
  • Clear and professional written and oral communication
  • Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Able to travel for company and/or industry meetings as needed
  • Willing to work variable hours, including weekends and irregular shifts
  • Available for overnight travel (35%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship


Preferred Experience And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three (3) years’ experience in people leadership
  • Previous experience with budget preparation and managing departmental spending
  • Previous Experience leading an Inflight Crew Base
  • Two (2) years managing leaders (Supervisor level or above)
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations
  • Inflight Crew Qualification (May maintain qualification with currency in training)
  • Experience working with third party representation, contract negotiation and/or arbitration


Crewmember Expectations

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Work Environment

  • Traditional office environment (based within our Airport Operations)
  • Non-traditional work hours, shifts cover flight schedule which operates twenty four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.


Physical Effort

  • Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently. Ability to push and pull in excess of 250 pounds (Heavy).


Compensation

  • The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
