Job Description
AUTHORITY:The Quality Manager receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to the Integration Manager or appointed designate for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities. The Quality Manager has the authority to take action necessary to address departures from the quality system or analytical procedures, so long as such action does not deviate from established company guidelines, is consistent with sound technical and business judgment, and follows the practices of the laboratory.
Overall Objectives And Responsibilites
Review and distribution of new/revised SOPs and the proper maintenance/disposal of superseded SOPs;
Develop, distribute, review, and maintain document control of internal quality documents. i.e., the Quality Manual, Audit Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, Analysis Methods, and Forms.
Plan, organize, direct, monitor and control the laboratory’s quality system to meet or exceed the standards set by ISO/IEC 17025, government regulations, and company requirements.
Acts as a resource for laboratory personnel for correct application and interpretation of internal quality documents.
Conduct SOP training.
Ensure that employee training files are established and properly maintained.
Verify that personnel have documented training in quality documents, ISO 17025 requirements.
Be a part of the Proficiency testing program together with the Technical Management
Review and produce summary comment sheets for distribution to relevant personnel on internal quality control and proficiency testing program results.
Review client complaints for trends.
Review root cause analysis for nonconformances and Out of Specifications
Audit the laboratory for compliance with standards set by ISO/IEC 17025, and other relevant quality procedures.
Approve and monitor the performance of quality critical suppliers; maintains a list of currently approved suppliers; provides the list of approved suppliers to personnel that are responsible for purchasing such supplies.
Hold Management Review meeting at least once per year to keep management informed of the current status of the Quality System.
Accompanies auditors (e.g. ISO quality inspectors) during audits of the laboratory.
Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Microbiology preferred.
Prefer experience or coursework in laboratory procedures, data analysis, computer operations, mathematics, and technical/business writing.
3-5 years’ experience in analytical setting preferred.
Prior in-depth experience working with a variety of regulatory guidelines (ISO) and QC/QA programs an important advantage.
