ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

Created within and on park & forest grounds, this is an immersive lighting & sound experience geared towards a specific fan-base of all ages. This beloved IP experience begins at dusk and runs every (15)-minutes through the evening hours. From concept to creative, this event includes stylized photo opportunities, themed food & drink, and an opportunity to peruse merchandise in a large-scale retail tent.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Prop Lead’s role will support the build of an outdoor lighting and props trail. They will work closely with the Global Head of Props and Overlay to assist on the installation of all props and signage, helping to ensure schedules are followed and that the creative design of the trail is upheld to the highest standard.

The Prop Lead will work with the Global Head of Production, the Creative team, and the Site Supervisor supporting the delivery of props, scenic dressing, signage (theatrical and wayfinding) and working alongside an onsite crew. They will provide support to the creative, production and operational teams. They will also be prepared to help manage any incidents, unplanned works and other situations as they arise and must be able to follow procedures set out by the US Producers and Production Partners.

LOCATION

  • Pre-Production / Load In Phase - Remote and on-site prepping, and being full time on site work during the load in period beginning on September 23, 2024 through opening on October 26, 2024.
  • Load Out Phase - There will be 7-8 days in early February 2025.

REMUNERATION

$350/day or based on experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take ownership and responsibility for prop and scenic installation as directed by the Creative Team, the Global Head of Production and the local Production Team.
  • Liaise with internal and external teams and suppliers to ensure prop and scenic information is shared in a timely manner.
  • Report to the Global Head of Production on all key timelines associated with the delivery of props, dressing and signage. In the absence of the Global Head of Production, they must be prepared to manage onsite crew offering creative guidance and ensuring to do lists and schedules are adhered to.
  • Working with the Local Production Team and onsite crew in the loading and unloading of trucks and containers to ensure minimal damage and delivery of kit to the right locations.
  • Following detailed installation, maintenance and creative brief guides for all props and signage, reading and interpreting set plans and CADS and assisting with creative interpretation with the operational teams when on site.
  • Providing attention to detail when working with the Global Head of Production in the creation, installation and securement of multiple miniscenes to meet the high standards of the IP owners.
  • Ensuring the installation of signage for the event location. Interpreting the concept and design packs, also ensuring suppliers support the local event manager in the installation of all signage and fascias on site.
  • Dressing in props and equipment so they camouflage into the forest at night with clever placement of blacks, camouflage fabric, twigs and branches from the forest itself.
  • Providing commitment and communications skills to work effectively with all other onsite departments.
  • Any other reasonable tasks needed in order to achieve all goals and objectives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have experience in using Google Drive and the Google suite of applications including Sheets, Word, Google Meetings. Attention to detail is essential in the preparation of company documentation.
  • Must have previous experience in Event or Theatre set and props installation with a solid knowledge of tools, equipment and terminology required.
  • Previous experience in managing crews for the creative or event industries preferable.
  • Previous experience in following planning documents and managing external suppliers.
  • Previous experience interpreting and delivering on creative briefs and the ability to use creative flair to add to the design, whilst ensuring all items are seen from a good vantage point by the audience.
  • Would suit a candidate with a background in props building, scenic build design, theatre stage management, site specific or immersive events, or experience in helping to coordinate large scale outdoor projects.
  • Ability to follow instruction and work well as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of object based storytelling or exhibition installs.
  • Ideally you have knowledge of prop repair to carry out any minor damage which could occur onsite during the installation or in transit.
  • Current First-Aid certification is a plus.
