Property Controller

We are partnering with a prominent property management company with a reputation for excellence and commitment to service. They manage a diverse array of properties in Charlotte, NC. To complement their team, they are looking for a skilled and experienced Controller who understands the industry's intricacies and the financial operations that underpin successful property management.

Job Description:

The Controller will play a pivotal role in the company's financial management, including all aspects of financial reporting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The Controller's responsibilities will also include financial risk management.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Demonstrate a solid understanding of property management best practices and relevant laws.
3. Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
4. Manage Finance and Accounting staff, including performance evaluation, hiring, and training.
5. Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets and actual expenditures.
6. Coordinate all audit activities and properly document all financial transactions.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or business-related field.
2. CPA certification is preferred.
3. At least 5 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position, with a preference for experience in property management.
4. Prior use and knowledge of Yardi property management software is mandatory.
5. Ability to analyze financial data and create insightful reports for management.
6. Strong organizational and leadership skills.
7. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
