The North Carolina Clean Energy Fund (NCCEF) is seeking a Solar for All Program Director to join its growing team of mission-focused clean energy and financial professionals. NCCEF is a nonprofit financial institution with a mission to accelerate investment in clean and efficient energy solutions and increase climate resilience in North Carolina, particularly to promote climate and economic equity.  We partner with public and private investors, foundations, and other non-profit and community organizations to deploy sustainable financing solutions that will create long-lasting environmental, economic, and social benefits and fill gaps in the financial market, especially for traditionally underserved communities.


Position Summary

The Solar for All Program Director (Program Director) will lead NCCEF’s participation in the implementation of North Carolina’s EnergizeNC Solar for All program, part of the U.S. EPA’s Green House Gas Reduction Fund program. The Program Director will work with the EnergizeNC coalition team to develop and implement equitable financial assistance and solar financing programs to enable the rapid deployment of distributed solar and associated battery storage for low-income and disadvantaged communities across the state, including state- and federally recognized tribal lands. 


Responsibilities

  • Lead activities to develop and deploy the financial assistance and solar financing programs necessary for successful implementation of the North Carolina Solar for All program. This will include:
  • Understand and comply with all US EPA program requirements for financing;
  • Ensure inclusion of community-based organizations in design and implementation of financing program(s); and
  • Manage relationships with partners and participating financial institutions.
  • Work closely with NC Solar for All coalition members and NCCEF Co-Directors to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives.
  • Strategize, implement, and maintain program initiatives to scale solar lending programs in ways that meet organizational objectives.
  • Provide direction, training, and support to program managers as required.
  • Work with program managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects; analyze and problem solve program risks and obstacles. 
  • Develop and manage budget for Solar for All program.  
  • Develop program assessment protocols for evaluation and improvement.
  • Oversee creation of accessible outreach and training materials regarding financial assistance, legible for community organizations and solar installers. 
  • Produce program reports for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintain organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Environmental Science, Sustainable Technology, or related field.  
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in program or project management, with at least 2 years leading a team
  • Minimum of 2 years experience related to home energy, clean energy, finance or related fields.  
  • Familiarity with the clean energy financial and policy landscape in North Carolina. 
  • Intermediate-Advanced proficiency with Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word. Data analytics and creative tools are preferred.
  • This position is location based remote. Chosen candidate must be located in North Carolina.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of time, most travel will be within North Carolina. 


The salary range for this position is between $85,000 - $100,000.
