Job Overview
We are looking for an energetic and passionate Teacher to join our team! In this role, you will lead a class of students through a successful school year by creating and implementing an engaging educational curriculum. Your primary goal is to foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment, providing students with the tools they need to reach their full potential. The ideal candidate is compassionate, creative, and enthusiastic about teaching!
Responsibilities
Manage and educate students in art techniques within a classroom setting
Follow the established teaching curriculum
Maintain positive relationships with students and coworkers
Document and share student progress and evaluations
Report and document behavioral incidents as necessary
Encourage the development of students' critical thinking skills
Take attendance and ensure student engagement
Provide constructive feedback to students
Collaborate with other teachers and school personnel to maintain a healthy and safe learning environment
Qualifications
Availability to work Thursday and/or Friday afternoons (4pm - 8pm), Saturday, and/or Sunday (8:30am - 12:30pm, 2pm - 6pm) on a regular basis
College student or graduate in an art-related major is highly preferred
Strong traditional media art skills, especially in drawing and painting
Commitment to a regular schedule of at least two shifts each week for a minimum of two semesters
Ability to be on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time
Reliability and proactivity are essential
A laid-back, fun, playful, and outgoing personality; friendly but firm in a playful way with students
Strong classroom management skills are a plus
Ability to build rapport with students
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong leadership qualities
Previous experience teaching groups of kids (ages 4-17)
