The Packaging Designer will support the creative packaging team and collaborate on concepts and execution of both primary and secondary packaging: Including In-Line product development, Seasonal programs, Special collections, Collateral, Creative mailers and other various packaging related elements. This candidate is expected to be on site in our Soho office Tuesday – Thursday with remote work on Monday and Friday. This is a creative job, but requires technical and production skills in both 2-d and 3-d.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Create highly innovative concepts and product designs in line with our overall brand strategy.
Work closely with the various members of our creative package team to present design concepts and get approvals from all stake holders.
Develop concept decks, mood boards, and manufacturing tech drawings.
Create and modify 3-d models and renderings of packaging, special mailers, bags, gift boxes and other collateral.
Manage projects as they go through approval and costing process’ - making revisions as necessary.
Coordinate with other in-house teams including our Operations, Marketing, Corporate Package Development, Product Development, VM / Store Design, Digital and Image production teams.
Adhere to, and help to formalize design standards and styles for new and existing product franchises.
Help to develop and maintain a 3-d Product Library.
Prepare and Release Design Direction with proper printing and manufacturing specifications.
Prep 2-d files for initial test art and final art-work release.
Prep and send 3-d files to internal and external vendors for prototyping as necessary.
Work cross functionally to develop multiple iterations of designs for consumer testing.
Awareness of sustainable manufacturing processes, and corporate sustainability goals.
Preliminary design comping in-house.
Work with external comp houses to create components for presentations and photoshoots.
Share and supply artwork with retouching teams.
Attend regular status meetings with cross functional groups.
POSITIONS REQUIREMENTS:
3-7+ years related experience
Bachelor’s degree in a design related field required.
Conceptual thinker, strong sense of graphic and type design.
Able to ideate, develop, present and execute projects from start to finish in highest quality.
Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines,
Must be adaptable to shifting priorities and changing concepts.
Reasonable knowledge of industrial design and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in Rhino 3D, Rendering in Keyshot required, with expert skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
Experience with Microsoft OneDrive
Strong knowledge of competitive landscape and design/fashion trends
Challenges standard practices, and applies new and different ways of thinking to generate unique ideas
Graphic illustration skills with ability to develop patterns and repeat graphics, Ability to draw or sketch is a plus
