We are currently looking for a National Operations Manager who will be responsible for the business performance (P&L) of the national accounts business. This business includes the delivery of our services through partnership and coordination with local branches and our subcontractor (affiliate) network.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage the national account operations through strategic sales development, process control, operational/margin improvement initiatives, and the establishment of key performance standards.
  • Analyze the market and current business performance to ensure strategies are effective in meeting the financial budget and recommend changes or adjustments to the plan when necessary.
  • Coach, develop and drive sales teams to secure new business with the right clients that meet the strategy, with acceptable terms and conditions, and minimum profit margins.
  • Understand the national market, concerning trends, changes in code or legislation, and the competitive landscape.
  • Responsible for tracking, forecasting, and communicating all costs, profits, and financial measures of the total national account business. Promote cash flow by establishing proper payment terms with clients and creating a proactive culture on billing and collections.
  • Accountable to manage department sales, coordination, scheduling, planning, repairs, maintenance, testing, inspection, quality control, and total delivery of all services according to the terms of our national agreements. Collaborate with local branches and subcontractor (affiliate) network to ensure successful and smooth delivery.
  • Conduct regular business review meetings to inspect performance, analyze any issues and implement any corrective action plans.
  • Routinely review all non-financial and financial key performance indicators for sales, service delivery, affiliate performance management, operational administration, and national project management. Examine the business performance on sales pipeline, backlog integrity, resource utilization, cost control and overall revenue/margin contribution.
  • Determine, budget, and plan for the staffing needs of the business and work with the appropriate resources to achieve the plan. Lead with a focus on excellence in recruiting, hiring, retention, performance management, and career development for employees.
  • Manage and develop important subcontractor (affiliate) and vendor relationships. Create alliances that support our strategy and deliver the level of quality we and our customers expect.
  • Review subcontractor (affiliate) performance, identify and select new partners in selected markets. Ensure that agreements are in place and up to date.
  • Maintain key relationships with strategically important customers to influence future opportunities and gauge customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with Fortis policies/procedures, Federal, State, and local laws, and regulations.

Supervisory Responsibility: Sales Executives, National Projects Managers, National Service Supervisors, and the team of Customer Service Specialists.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience of proven industry experience. Experience could be in a related national facility services field such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven managerial experience leading and supervising team members.
  • Ability to interact and communicate in a professional and positive manner with other branches, affiliates, customers, officials, general contractors, etc.
  • Must have good critical thinking skills and the ability to manage customer escalations during system implementation.
  • Ability to recognize and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Formidable team leadership and the ability to launch and execute key initiatives and tools.
  • Demonstrate positive teamwork and ability to be a team leader and mentor.
  • Complete services in a timely manner while providing the highest standard of quality work and customer satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, engineering or other applicable degree from a technical school, university, or college.
  • Proven fire protection industry experience.
  • Knowledgeable with NFPA standards and codes

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
