10+ years of high-achieving Mechanical and/or Structural Engineering in a manufacturing setting makes you eligible for Senior status, and there’s a fast track to that level for high performers with 5 to 10 years’ background.


Duties & Responsibilities:


• Develop Engineer-to-Order design solutions for Hussey’s bleacher and chair platform product lines.

• Oversee creation of code-compliant submittal drawings for customer approval that reflect the product configurations to be provided.

• Collaborate with internal project managers and external parties to obtain information required for detailed design development and engineering.

• Complete field checks and assist with building scans and surveys.

• Utilize 3D design software and other applications to design and digitally fit seating platforms into the building space.

• Complete analysis of the platform structure and related designs.

• Prototype, test and validate new designs.

• Produce part drawings, instructions and other data required to manufacture and install the components of the seating solution into the final site configurations.

• Provide guidance during the manufacturing process of custom designs.

• Provide technical support throughout the installation, including call support and travelling to the site to assist with custom aspects of the installation.

• Mentor and assist with the technical development of team members.


COMPETENCIES: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)


• Can perform stress analysis using hand calculations, spreadsheet tools and/or FEA.

• Can model and analyze structural systems and connections utilizing structural design software such as RISA.

• Familiar with structural design specifications and manuals, including ANSI/AISC 360, AISI Cold Form Steel Design, NDS for Wood Construction, and other structural design standards.

• Design experience with sheet metal fabrication, structural steel, Aluminum, welding, and wood.

• Mechanical aptitude – fasteners, machine design, hydraulics.

• Experience with quick turn-around prototyping and testing.

• Demonstrated project management skills. Ability to plan, set priorities, and carry-out detail-oriented work to achieve project deliverables.

• Support corporate goal for continuous improvement bringing new ideas to reduce waste, improve production capabilities, and enhance performance.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment

• Ability to work hands on in the lab and in the field.

• Proficient with 3D parametric modeling of parts and large assemblies.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS


• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Civil/Structural Engineering.

• 5+ years’ relevant experience. (3D modeling background would be a competitive advantage.)

• Open to occasional, short duration travel.
