Position Summary:

Since 1952, Springfield Marine company has been leading the way in the design and manufacture of components and accessories to both the Marine and RV industries. In the last 15 years, the company has seen significant growth, and is now launching a big initiative around expanding our product lines.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will directly lead component development projects in conjunction with internal departments (Sales, QA, and Operations) and customer (Boatbuilders & RV Manufacturers) engineering teams. This Engineer will research new trends and conceive new designs that integrate new technologies, drive innovation, and deliver a high quality product that exceeds the expectations of our end-customers (boaters and RVers).

Essential Functions:

·        Serve as team lead on internal and customer product development projects

·        Ensure component and system compliance with industry standards are acquired through certification/testing

·        Research new trends, integrate new technologies to drive innovation, and communicate new development

opportunities to cross-functional teams

·        Work closely with company management to facilitate product line planning and manage the product

development calendar

·        Conduct & evaluate product design for performance, durability, and ability to meet customer/industry

specifications

·        Provide manufacturing and quality assurance with technical support and direction, including troubleshooting,

key characteristics that must be held to tight specifications and supply 100% traceability

·        Perform design verification (DV) and product validation (PV) on product throughout the development process

·        Ensure timely and adequate completion of all engineering tasks within the applicable phases of the project,

including preparation/modification of drawings, creation/maintenance of BOM, prototyping, manufacturing

hand-off, 1st article evaluation, etc.,

Education & Experience:

·        Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

·        1-3 Years experience

·   Software experience with Autocad, Solidworks, ERP software, and Microsoft Office Suite
