The Optical Lab Production Manager oversees the daily operations of the optical laboratory, ensuring the production of high-quality optical products. This role involves managing lab staff, maintaining equipment, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and optimizing production processes to meet business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management:

Oversee the entire production process, from raw material intake to finished product delivery.

Ensure production schedules are met and that products meet quality standards.

Monitor and adjust production processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Staff Management:

Supervise and train lab technicians and other staff.

Schedule staff shifts and manage time-off requests.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching.

Quality Control:

Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure high standards.

Conduct regular inspections and tests on products and equipment.

Address and resolve any quality issues or complaints.

Equipment Maintenance:

Ensure all lab equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.

Schedule and oversee regular maintenance and repairs.

Manage inventory of supplies and materials, placing orders as necessary.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.

Conduct safety training for staff and enforce safety protocols.

Keep up-to-date with industry regulations and best practices.

Process Improvement:

Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Stay informed about new technologies and industry trends.

Collaborate with other departments to streamline operations.

Reporting and Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of production data, quality reports, and maintenance logs.

Prepare and present regular reports on lab performance to senior management.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Optometry, Optical Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in an optical lab or manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

Strong understanding of optical products and production processes.

Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Proficiency in using lab equipment and production management software.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Working Conditions:

Full-time position.

May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet production deadlines.

Work is performed in a lab environment with exposure to chemicals, machinery, and noise.
