Description

Central Garden & Pet Company is searching for a Manager, Third Party Supply Chain to support the Supply Chain Cost & Simplicity strategy in alignment with the Business Unit strategy. This role reports to the Sr. Director of Procurement within the CLS Business Unit and provides leadership bandwidth for key initiatives based on the needs of the business. Position will be based in Dallas, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of the Supply Chain Simplification Strategy.
  • Support implementation of BU Strategy.
  • Working directly with our 3rd party co-manufacturers, develop, guide, and implement various improvement projects for quality, delivery and cost.
  • Work with Procurement team on Raw material inventory plans and implementation of improvement actions.
  • Lead the development, implementation and tracking of Net Productivity plans and project. management to deliver Net Pro outcome (including leveraging VA/VE tools) for 3rd party supply chain products.
  • Engage & lead implementation with Research and Development and Engineering, for the development of new Products/Innovation projects at 3rd party manufacturers. If necessary, propose and assist in the selection and qualification of new 3rd party manufacturers.
  • Liaison between Dallas and Council Bluffs on total supply chain learnings, including but not limited to manufacturing, logistics, scheduling, and warehouse.
  • Evaluate, design, propose measures to streamline the supply chain with an orientation to improve fill rates, improve piece quality, drive cost reduction, and improve total cost of quality.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Procurement leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Process or Chemical Engineering.
  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in manufacturing related to Continuous improvement.
  • Supply Chain or 3rd party supplier knowledge, interest a plus, and is a focal point of the position The ability to manage multiple priorities and be able to balance those as needed.
  • Experience effectively managing multiple projects from cradle to grave.
  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and motivate teams to meet business needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Financial business acumen.
  • LEAN and/or Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • SAP experience required.
