Job Summary

The Manager of Capital Construction is a key member of the New York Aquarium Restoration (NYAR) project team and is responsible for the financial reporting for the project and timely submission of reimbursement requests for government funded expenditures.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manage the reimbursement process for the NYAR project and other FEMA funded projects. Prepare and compile highly detailed and complex payment request forms and documentation required for timely reimbursement of work performed on governmental grant funded projects. Make recommendations for sequencing and packaging of reimbursement requests.
  • Monitor assigned capital project finances for the NYAR project and other capital and emergency projects as needed.
  • Review and analyze design and construction related invoices, with emphasis on AIA G702 and G703 format. Liaise with the construction manager on scope review and billing cycles for the NYAR project and other projects as necessary to resolve issues and ensure proper billing and documentation.
  • Manage relationships with government agencies on issues related to government funded projects. Respond to agency comments and requests for other information as required.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within WCS to manage capital project finances and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Manage, prepare, and submit timely reimbursement requests of Direct Administrative Costs (DAC) for the NYAR project.
  • Develop, implement, and adapt new policies and procedures as needed to ensure efficient management of project finances.
  • Prepare project reports, including but not limited to quarterly reports, budget vs. actual, cash flow, change order, and variance analysis reporting for the NYAR project as well as other projects as needed.

Qualification Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Demonstrated capital project and construction accounting experience required with an emphasis on G702 and G703 format and construction experience.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills and comfortable with highly complex work.
  • Knowledge of New York City, New York State and FEMA procurement and reimbursement processes highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with ERP systems a plus.
