The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Licensed Engineer (Electrical) for the Parks Planning & Design section.

Job Brief
An experienced electrical power engineer is needed to expand our team. You will be in charge of designing electrical power systems for various site and building capital improvement and repair projects.
In order to ensure that projects are successfully completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the necessary requirements, you will collaborate with clients, other engineers, and project managers.
General Description
Advanced professional and supervisory engineering work in the design and review of a wide variety of engineering and environmental projects.
Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or closely related field.
Requires four (4) years progressively responsible experience in professional engineering work appropriate to the area of assignment including six (6) months of lead work/supervisory experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses
Possess and maintain Professional Engineer License in State of Florida for duration of assignment.
Preferences
Masters degree with major coursework in electrical engineering or closely related field.

Project Management Professional (PMP)
Electrical Engineering Certificate
AutoCAD proficient
Engineering Design Software experience
Project Management experience 3+ years
BIM experience 3+ years

Duties And Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Design electrical power systems for buildings, site lighting, pump stations, and other miscellaneous applications.
Using CAD software, create schematics, diagrams, and layouts for electrical systems.
For planned initiatives, carry out cost-benefit evaluations and feasibility studies.
Working with project managers, other engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Develop the electrical specifications, drawings, and calculations for construction contract bid and permit documents.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations when designing and specifying electrical power systems.
Support and advice other team members with regard to technical matters.
Keep abreast with new developments in technology and business trends that affect electrical power systems.
Prepares plans and technical specifications for construction bid; works with Purchasing to develop contracts, reviews and edits documents; attends pre bid and pre construction meetings; reviews all complete bids for construction award.
Performs in depth technical review of construction plans in various submittal stages; reviews plans for concurrence with agreed upon design requirements, and constructability; works with other County public works agencies to maintain and update design and equipment standards; performs general communication, decision making and coordination with a multitude of professionals within these projects.
Manages construction contracts including procurement, cost accounting, schedules, and construction engineering inspections; manages engineering consultants, conducts negotiations, supervises preparation of scope and fees, provides oversight of consultant design services and approve invoices.
Reviews customer construction plans for dewatering determination; conducts quality assurance and quality control reviews of internal design projects.
Enters data and uploads documents in the Broward County and Florida State computer systems to track contaminated site cleanup status; maintains oversight and control of assigned cleanup projects, site inspections, and enforcement related activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
Trains and assists in resolving complex Air Permitting issues; schedules, assigns and supervises engineering projects prepared by consultants; supervises the Design Section staff's day-to-day activities.
Supervises and participates in the studies and reports prepared by engineering consultants; participates in negotiation with consultants and contractors; conducts meetings with consultants, contractors, staff and other stakeholders.
Coordinates the process of bidding, contract development, exchange of information, and surveys.
Reviews environmental assessment reports and remedial action designs and reports, construction and dewatering plans and updates databases to reflect these activities; prepares and reviews paperwork for issuance of order for own/others projects.
Provides training, peer review, technical support (including review/approval of technical designs) of documents/correspondence for team members; attends internal/external meetings related to own and team members' projects.
Maintains contact with State of Florida personnel, consultants and responsible parties including meetings and telephone conversations.
Performs site inspections for own projects and for team member projects that require Professional Engineer review; reviews contractor submittals for compliance with contract documents. Responds to contractor requests for information.
Provides technical direction or supervision to junior engineers, engineering or computer-aided design (CAD) technicians and other technical personnel; prepares PS&E (plans, specifications and estimates) documents for design of County facilities.
Performs related work as assigned.
