Teaches courses in the discipline area of political science. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Provides advising and academic support to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities.
Duties And Responsibilities
Teaches typical load of 12 semester-hours of undergraduate courses each semester in the area of political science in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement.
Provides advisement, and academic support to students as needed.
Maintains classes related records and assesses student coursework.
Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities.
Participates in departmental, college, and university required activities.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Requires a master's degree inclusive 18 hours in Political Science or related field.
Teaching experience at undergraduate level in traditional classroom setting and /or online.
An established research interest to seek publications in refereed journals and other scholarly sources.
A commitment to student engagement and academic success.
Ability to communicate effectively, participate in departmental and university activities, and mentor students.
Preferred
Earned Ph.D. in Political Science or related area from accredited institution.
Three (3) or more years of experience teaching at the college or university level.
Ability to interactively engage students to develop their enhanced critical thinking.
Ability to effectively communicate with students at different capacity levels.
