Overview

We are looking to hire a Lead Technical Writer for Wherobots, who will use their writing to democratize spatial intelligence in companies, the scientific community, and institutions at scale.

Wherobots is backed by experienced venture firms, Wing Venture Capital and Clear Ventures. Our growth will be product led, where the capabilities and user documentation enables a fully self-service experience across different customer profiles. We have usage and high interest across different industries and use cases, including well known banking and insurance organizations. Wherobots is remote friendly, with occasional in-person working commitments. Most of the team is in the San Francisco and Seattle areas.

Opportunity

As the first technical writer on the team, the ideal candidate will thrive with autonomy and ambiguity. You will be taking our technical documentation function from 0-1, and ideally will have done this before for a startup. You will own and optimize core documentation journeys across our product portfolio. You may decide to revamp our documentation from scratch; redefining it from the stack it runs on to the words our users read. Because technical documentation is a critical interface for the product, you will proactively identify opportunities to improve the product by working with end users, and users of Apache Sedona. You’ll report into the Head of Product, but partner across multiple Wherobots internal functions. You will play a critical role in how we build and describe all features and capabilities our customers need to unlock the value of Wherobots Cloud, elevating their spatial IQ.

We are 100% cloud-native, and build our product using modern and reliable tools and technologies. If this role excites you, we would love to hear from you. Apply now!

Responsibilities

  • Own the user experience for Wherobots and Apache Sedona documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, identify technical solutions, and deliver simple, intuitive technical guides.
  • Participate in how products are defined, and own new content required to support the product surface area across APIs, programming languages, technologies like AI, ML, and integrations.
  • Build KPIs and mechanisms that enable continuous improvement of user documentation
  • Trialing, and describing all aspects of the Wherobots product in clear and simple language
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in documentation technologies

Qualifications

  • Experience taking technical documentation from non-existent or basic, to highly usable and scalable.
  • Evidence of strong verbal and written english communication
  • 5+ years of technical documentation experience using Git for version control
  • 5+ years experience for a B2B software or cloud company
  • Familiarity with Python and SQL
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

Compensation And Benefits

Wherobots offers competitive compensation, equity, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is $125k-$200k per year.

Although we aim to establish a primary product and documentation presence in the Seattle area, we provide flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay, and final title of role, will vary based on factors such as work location, seniority, skills, and experience of the candidate.

Wherobots provides a competitive benefits package to all full-time employees, including 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance, access to a 401(k) plan with up to 5% of employee contributions 100% matched by Wherobots, and unlimited PTO.

About Wherobots

Wherobots was founded by the original creators of Apache Sedona to build the first fully-managed, highly scalable spatial cloud and analytics platform. Spatial, location-enabled, and satellite imagery data is quickly becoming a critical and valuable source for insights in a broad array of industries, from logistics and insurance to financial or climate tech companies.

Everything in a multi-dimensional space has a spatial element to it. Yet building intelligence of how assets or features of interest perform or change across space and time, was hard. Its hard because data, and traditional big-data engines and cloud products are not optimized for spatial analytics. Solving problems like “where should I place a [thing] to minimize [waste/costs] and optimize profits”, or “what logistical changes can we make to minimize our carbon footprint” were once difficult and costly problems to solve. Wherobots, the Spatial Intelligence Cloud, makes spatial problems easy to solve, at petabyte scale. The planet, and our customers will benefit from Wherobots' role in democratizing spatial intelligence.
