Kitchen Staff
rforms work of moderate difficulty in regards to the preparation of foods on a large scale. Work is performed according to specific policies and procedures, producing food according to menus and standardized recipes. Responsibilities include preparing ingredients, cleaning the cooking area and serving food in a cafeteria style setting. Work is under the supervision of the Food Services Manager.

Responsibilities/Duties
- Performs the duties of cook
- Prepares appropriate foods, hot or cold, in a timely fashion for meal service.
- Is responsible for cleaning tables and equipment; maintaining working area in a sanitary condition.
- Operates various kitchen equipment as assigned, and reports malfunctioning equipment.
- Reports unsafe conditions in the kitchen to members of management immediately
- Weighs and measure ingredients, properly using recipes in order to produce a standard product.
- Serves food on a cafeteria style assembly line.
- Checks all incoming food supplies for quality and stores supplies properly.
- Maintains inventories of food and kitchen supplies, reports stockpiling and surplus inventories.
- Instructs and supervises lower level employees, community service workers and volunteers on work related assignments.

Qualifications
- Some knowledge of food preparation and cooking methods on a large-scale basis.
- Some knowledge of the materials and equipment used in a large-scale cooking operation.
- Some knowledge of health and safety standards utilized in a food service operation and in facility.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions,
- Ability to communicate information to clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to follow security and safety regulations.
- Oral Communication-Speaks clearly in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions
- Written Communication: Writes clearly; Able to read and interpret written information
- Organizational Support-Follow policies and procedures
- Professionalism-Approaches others in a tactful manner; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their situation or position.
