Together with our team, we operate a successful sewing machine and service business by delivering excellence and inspiration to our guests (customers). With Six retail locations in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri and Texas, an Events Sales Division, and our E-Commerce Divisions, we continue to experience healthy growth and financial stability. Our Distribution Center and Administration Offices, based in Oklahoma, provide sales support and infrastructure to enable our company to be prepared for future growth and expansion.

Summary:

The Graphic Designer position is responsible for designing a wide variety of things across digital and offline media. To be successful in this position, you should be a self-starter, capable of delivering creative ideas and show amazing attention to detail. Due to the nature of retail sales, this career path can be deadline-intensive and may require overtime. This is a Part Time position. Approximately 24 hours a week M-F 8:00am – 5:00pm. Flexible with days and times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and a willingness to adhere to BSI’s culture, including finding a way to say “Yes”.
  • Meet with the Marketing Team and others as required to gain an understanding of what is needed.
  • Create or incorporate illustrations, pictures, and designs to reflect the desired theme and tone of the communications.
  • Plan concepts by studying relevant information and materials.
  • Illustrate concepts by designing examples of art arrangement, size, type size and style to enhance the readability of text and image and submit for approval.
  • Produce drafts for review by the Marketing Manager and others on the leadership team; make revisions based on the feedback received.
  • Review final productions for error and ensure the final copy reflects the desired result before submitting for final approval.
  • Develop web pages, brochures, logos, signs, sales catalogs, training materials, advertisements, and other communication materials.
  • Create the materials by hand or by using technology, including computer software programs such as Adobe’s Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and more.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing tasks as needed.
  • Communicate with the Marketing Team as needed on layout and design.
  • Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements when necessary.
  • Identify trends and insights to optimize spend based on data.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on event promotion and creations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field
  • 1 year experience as graphic designer or related field.
  • Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Commitment to continually increasing knowledge of BSI’s products to stay current on product offerings.
  • Knowledge of web-based marketing including managing marketing campaigns via web and social media.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines while juggling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Communication skills with the ability to confer advice and suggestions while understanding what the sales and leadership team need/want.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to give and receive criticism.
  • Proficiency in required desktop publishing tools, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position is in a standard office environment with desktop business equipment and frequent telephone calls. The noise level is moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time and must constantly reach with hands, arms, and fingers; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequent hearing and talking is required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers; extensive keyboard typing is required. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift and carry supplies and shipments up to 50lbs.
