Forensic Analyst
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office seeks a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds contribute to serve the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Bronx District Attorney's Office has an opening for a Forensic Analyst in its Forensic Science Unit (FSU), within the Strategic Enforcement and Intergovernmental Relations Division. The Forensic Science Unit oversees all cases with forensic science evidence including DNA, fingerprints and ballistics. Additionally, the FSU coordinates cold case homicide and sexual assault investigations. The Forensic Analyst is responsible for providing the FSU with investigative and analytical support for cold case homicide and sexual assault investigations, and supporting the Office in gathering forensic evidence reports.
Job Responsibilities
Assist NYPD Cold Case detectives in identifying unsolved homicide and sexual assault cases with forensic evidence.
Maintain a database of unsolved homicide and sexual assault case files.
Assemble unsolved homicide and sexual assault case files
Collaborate with the BXDA Forensic Science Unit, NYPD and OCME to identify and submit evidence for forensic testing.
Assist with investigative genealogy investigations
Liaison to the NYPD Laboratory for all narcotics, ballistics and other laboratory sections.
Order and provide laboratory reports narcotics, ballistics, and other laboratory sections.
Other duties as assigned to support the Strategic Enforcement and Intergovernmental Relations Division.
Newly hired employees may be eligible for a hybrid remote work schedule after a 6–12-month probationary period.
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; two (2) years of criminal justice or forensic science or genealogy-related experience preferred.
Proficiency With Microsoft Office Products. Advanced Excel Experience Preferred.
Capable of building institutional relationships with community residents and organizations, police, and other law enforcement agencies.
Criminal Justice System Experience Preferred.
Must be able to adhere to strict requirements regarding legal records management, data protection, and privacy/confidentiality.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics.
Knowledge of NYS courts and the criminal justice system preferred.

- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
