Overview: Accounting Consultant position entails a crucial role in managing accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical accounting expertise, operational acumen, and a proactive, self-starting attitude. This role will involve handling and optimizing various reconciliations, month-end processes, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and complete monthly reconciliations, including identifying inputs and outputs, journal entries, and ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Utilize SAP experience to navigate systems and extract relevant data for accounting purposes.
• Execute month-end procedures, including accruals and other adjustments, with a focus on timeliness and accuracy.
• Collaborate with the team to understand root causes and perform thorough analyses for any discrepancies or irregularities in financial data.
• Assist in documenting processes and procedures for month-end and technical accounting tasks.
• Engage in knowledge transfer activities with outgoing resource to ensure seamless transition.
• Leverage automation tools and seek opportunities to streamline accounting processes.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting purposes.
• Proactively seek guidance and clarification when needed, while also demonstrating autonomy and initiative in problem-solving.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and leverage available resources for continuous learning and development.

Qualifications:

• CPA certification is strongly preferred
• Previous experience with SAP/S4 HANA or similar ERP systems is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with month-end close processes, including accruals and reconciliations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be a self-starter.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptability to remote work environment and virtual collaboration.
• Prior experience in retail or merchandising accounting is a plus.
