Job Summary:

This position has the responsibility for development of operational systems, processes and standards of practice as well as the day-to-day operational, financial, regulatory and planning accountability for services as well as integration of operational support across the continuum of care. Responsibilities include medical transportation, outside medical services, skilled nursing services, home health, hospice, and durable medical equipment in alignment with the organizations mission, strategic business plan, and related performance improvement expectations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide executive level leadership, strategic direction and recommendations over areas of accountability.
  • Achieves/exceeds performance expectations for the administrative areas of continuum of care operations.
  • Creates the structure and processes to develop, implement and evaluate programs, policies and standards for areas of accountability to support continuum of care services delivery to improve quality, service and affordability/cost trends.
  • Defines and communicates strategic objectives and scope.
  • Articulates issues or problems from a broader organizational/mission perspective and escalates unresolved barriers and roadblocks.
  • Champions new ways of meeting targets and/or goals. Explores critical issues not explicitly addressed by others. Anticipates and plans for future issues or problems. Monitors and assesses internal and external environment for trends and practices. Recommends operational improvements to increase efficiency and to meet changing business needs.
  • Coordinates with facility-based and regional resource management leadership to develop systems to ensure the seamless transition of patients to the continuum.
  • Develops strategic partnerships with external providers to improve quality, service, access and affordability/cost trends in continuum of care services.

Experience

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum ten (10) years’ relevant experience in case management leadership in an acute care setting.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of senior management experience with at least five of those years in clinical leadership

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Pharmacist License (Maryland) OR Licensed Social Worker (District of Columbia) OR Pharmacist License (Virginia) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Virginia) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker - Certified (Maryland) OR Registered Nurse License (Maryland) OR Pharmacist Doctorate License (District of Columbia) OR Pharmacist Doctorate License (Maryland) OR Licensed Certified Social Worker (Maryland) OR Pharmacist License (District of Columbia) OR Registered Nurse License (Virginia) OR Registered Nurse License (District of Columbia) OR Pharmacist Doctorate License (Virginia)

  • Proven track record of successful leadership in health care operations, staff development / skill building, physician group model practice, and/or management consulting, including budget development.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams through influence and collaboration.
  • Effective team building, conflict resolution, persuasive communication and presentation skills required. Strong communication, presentation, leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience analyzing medical expenses, staffing models and utilization and the ability to analyze complex functions, procedures, and problems to find creative, logical and effective solutions.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects and workstreams and utilize time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to build relationships through responsive, respectful communications and positive collaborations across many departments and organizational segments.
  • Ability to be a “change agent” and assist in behavioral transformation of staff (strategy, motivation, vision/mission development, consistency).
  • Proven skills in leading innovation and organizational transformation.
  • Possesses the skills to consistently elevate the over-arching vision, brand and identity for Kaiser Permanente.
  • Experience in advancing professional practice through implementation of evidence-based, research informed, and value-added operational and clinical practices.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required to participate in national meetings.
  • Significant knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to health care.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing, business, health care administration or related field preferred.
  • Experience in the Mid-Atlantic market is preferred
