General Description: The Executive Director reports to the President (Fr. Robert J. Spitzer), and expedites, coordinates, and manages the major executive functions within the Magis Center strategy, goal setting, monitoring of major initiatives, management of personnel, and oversight of marketing/social media/website, finances, and operations. There are nine areas of responsibility:

Position Requirements

  • Strategic Vision: Plan the vision and strategy to accomplish the three aspects of our mission of research/scholarship, dissemination strategy for schools, parishes, and youth ministry, and outreach through social and traditional media (see Mission Statement).
  • Annual Goals and Budget: Establish realistic "stretch goals within the bounds of available funding, personnel, and other resources -- particularly in the area of dissemination of high school, middle school, parish, and youth ministry programs across the U.S.
  • Monitoring: To monitor progress in achieving results towards goals and to facilitate ways of achieving those goals more effectively. This includes resolving both personnel and organizational challenges as we move to the next level of dissemination and outreach.
  • Staff Management : Oversee the direction, challenges, and needs of employees.
  • Website, Social Media, and Marketing: In conjunction with our website/marketing team, to oversee the operation, coordination, and development of our website, social media, and marketing efforts.
  • Benefaction and Development: Participate in developing relationships with potential and current donors, board members, and granting organizations (e.g., KoC, Mercy Works, etc.), and work with the board and major donors to keep them apprised of developments in our mission effectiveness, and our needs.
  • Partnerships: In conjunction with Fr. Spitzer, to develop strategic partnerships with Sophia, Life Teen, That Man Is You, EWTN, Ignatius Press, and other partners.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee the finances, in conjunction with our CFO, to stay within budget and achieve optimal results.
  • Operations Oversight: To work with our Operations Director to monitor personnel, HR, and operational effectiveness.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Must be spiritually mature and prepared to serve in an apostolate leadership position. A practicing Catholic who regularly participates in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church, strives to live the universal call to holiness in his or her own life, and understands and faithfully adheres to the teachings of the Church's Magisterium.
  • Excellent communication and social skills to build and maintain relationships.
  • Track record of growing a program, project or organization through strategic partnerships and alliances.
  • Preference for candidates who are well networked in the Catholic apostolate and diocesan space and have key relationships with leaders and stakeholders.
  • Experience leading a high performing team with a focus of metrics, goals and accountability.
  • Passionate about evangelization through the intersection of science, reason and faith.

Salary Range

$175,000 - $200,000
