Responsibilities

Per Diem- Day Shift

Jefferson Methodist Hospital, South Philadelphia

Primary Responsibilities

Responsible for the performance of studies, M-mode, color flow, Doppler and 2D echo. Performs special studies such as Transesophageal Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography and Pharmacologic Stress Echocardiography. Utilizes diagnostic ultrasound equipment in order to produce Ultrasound images of the heart and vasculature for diagnostic and interventional procedures, under the direction of the Cardiologist.

Essential Functions

Maintains skill and knowledge level in Echocardiography and Stress Echocardiography (preferred) and other procedures in order to properly care for patients of diverse age groups and physical abilities/disabilities. Explains all procedures to the patient, obtains complete and accurate history relevant to the examination to be performed. Prepares rooms and equipment in advance of requested procedures. Escorts patients from waiting area to examination room, reviews written history questionnaire and asks appropriate follow-up questions. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital.

  • No weekends or holidays
  • Mostly Fridays (subject to additional work days)
  • Covering vacations, as needed
  • 8 AM- 4 PM, no evenings

Qualifications

Educational / Training Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Six months to one year of post registry preferred.

Satisfactory formal training in an AMA approved school of Echocardiography.

Meets requirements for Echocardiography certification.

Conditions of Employment

Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.

Conditions of Employment

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson’s clinical entities or at the University. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.
