Director of Recruiting
DIRECTOR OF DRIVER RECRUITING
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate and challenge the recruiting team in order to meet driver hiring needs.
- Work closely with the necessary areas of the company to ensure hiring needs are known and met.
- Develop and present new ideas to improve recruiting strategies
- Understand the driver hiring needs of all business units and develop a daily recruiting plan
- Observe recruiter phone interactions to insure they are properly educating applicants on their options and working to meet department goals, using proper techniques such as following procedures and closing effectively Manages processes and procedures to ensure Company compliance with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to: Department of Labor, Department of Transportation, & FMCSA,
- Select, train, develop, supervise, direct, and coach the recruiting staff to ensure performance targets are met and employees grow to meet their full potential.
- Collaborate with Safety, and Operations to ensure a smooth transition for all candidates from selection into assimilation.
- Based on phone observations, develop a training plan to improve sales techniques, such as handling driver objections and closing the sale
- Review team and individual recruiting metrics to ensure maximum productivity
- Keep recruiters informed of changes in programs and new job openings
- Review drivers with other managers to insure we hire the safety drivers possible
- Lead daily morning meetings with team to review daily numbers, inform them of changes, discuss the area of focus for the day and motivate them for the coming week
- Perform management duties, such as maintaining time and attendance for driver recruiters, interviewing, hiring, progressive discipline, weekly reporting, etc.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned
Experience and Skills Required:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to working well in a team environment. Must be polite, patient and professional in all forms of communication with both internal and external customers
- Proficiency in and comfort with multiple software applications including AS400 operating system, web-based sites (Tenstreet), MS Office, and Outlook
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Detail oriented with excellent follow-up/follow-through skills
- Problem solver with the drive to achieve
- 2 years’ experience recruiting Class A Drivers
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Qualifications
