Director of Medicinal Chemistry (Relocation Required to Alberta, Canada)

Primary Responsibilities

This pivotal role involves leading the discovery and refinement of drug lead molecules. Key responsibilities include:

• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a strategic plan for identifying targeting peptides and linker-payload combinations that align with the company's R&D goals.
• Team Leadership: Lead and manage a cross-functional team of scientists, promoting a collaborative and results-oriented work environment while upholding high safety standards.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across discovery and data analysis to ensure seamless integration and communication throughout the research and development process.
• Staying Informed: Keep abreast of the latest advancements in medicinal chemistry, synthetic chemistry, and TRPs, promoting a culture of scientific excellence and continuous improvement within the department.
• Intellectual Property: Contribute to the development of intellectual property through patent filings and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Education: PhD in organic/medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, or a related field, with a minimum of five years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Expertise: Proven expertise in the selection, synthesis, and evaluation of new compounds in drug development.
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to inspire and mentor a high-performing team.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Organizational Skills: Exceptional documentation and organizational abilities.
