POSITION: Director of Instruction (DI)
SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculu, Instruction and Assessment
CLASSIFICATION: Administration

WORK HOURS: 7.5 Hours
CONTRACT LENGTH: 236 Days
ADMINISTRATIVE SALARY SCHEDULE: $127,773
General Job Description: The Director of Instruction will primarily be responsible for the improvement of instruction at school sites through the support of principals as instructional leaders. The DI will support principals in all academic school site improvement efforts. The DI will be required to be at school sites most of their workweek to provide support and professional development to principals. This support will include training principals and school administration in observation and feedback, data-driven instruction, and the implementation of the district curriculum. Support documentation, with action steps, will be used to identify necessary supports and next steps for principals to work on. Knowledge, experience and implementation of school turnaround and best practices are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities – Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Education and Experience Guidelines: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Master’s degree in education from an accredited college or university in Educational Leadership or closely related field.
Experience: At least three (3) years of successful teaching experience and two years of school leadership experience.
Licensure: Administrator Licensure

- Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in development of instructional policies and procedures.
- Direct the management of all instructional and instructional support programs and teams.
- Direct the management of programs, activities and functions consistent with school policy, priorities and culture.
- Oversee instruction and instructional support programs and implement new programs and procedures to ensure school goals are met.
- Analyze school wide data to determine effective curricular and instructional processes and their impact on credit production.
- Provide effective leadership, guidance, and oversight of assigned principals to assist in identifying problems/issues that can be addressed and resolved.
- Oversee effective hiring of all instructional staff/ instructional support staff within assigned area of responsibility.
- Lead and evaluate assigned direct reports, ensuring team members have access to professional and personal growth within the organization.
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others
