What You’ll Do

Teach for America Florida is looking for a dynamic professional to work alongside the Managing Director, Teacher Preparation & Training, to set and execute a vision for novice teacher training for educators across the state, including Teach For America corps members and non-Teach For America teachers. Director, Novice Teacher Training & Program Data will create and deliver key programming, recruit and develop part-time professional development and summer Practicum staff members, add critical capacity to our Managing Directors, Leadership Development who support our corps members’ development, and analyze and report on all program metrics to demonstrate their effectiveness and make strategic shifts where needed.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the job and have the ability to design and lead impactful professional development sessions, manage others to strong execution, forge external partnerships, and make strategic decisions by analyzing data. You are an organized, natural self-starter with an orientation toward developing others, deeply rooted in data and metrics, enjoy engaging with diverse groups of people, and have the ability to influence others to achieve shared outcomes through sophisticated relationship management. You are goal-oriented, data-driven, and will do whatever it takes to ensure novice teachers across the state have the skills and tools they need to be successful and that our programs are making a difference.

The goal of this role is to grow our novice teacher training by designing, delivering, managing others, maintaining partnerships, providing critical capacity, and measuring programmatic effectiveness.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Systems Coalition Building & Learning (65%)

  • Support the Managing Director, Teacher Preparation & Systems Impact, to develop vision and packages for teacher training
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director, Teacher Preparation & Systems Impact to analyze program effectiveness data, including student data, and share findings to strengthen our programming and build external support through quantitative proof of concept
  • Recruit and develop part-time teacher training and coaching staff for pre-service and in-service development scope and sequence, managing part-time staff to achieve outcomes with educators and in alignment with external contracts


Teacher Training (20%)

  • Execute corps member and non-Teach For America teacher program development and implementation, including pre-service and in-service
  • Support the Managing Directors, Leadership Development to bolster corps member development


Partnership Support (15%)

  • Support the Managing Director, Teacher Preparation & Training in partnerships by leading participant recruitment by conducting targeted outreach for corps members and alumni to engage in prioritized programming


Agile Teamwork

  • Operate with flexibility to support the team as needed and complete other duties as assigned
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends to deliver professional development sessions
  • Ability to travel occasionally for partnership meetings and professional development sessions


A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, the Director, Novice Teacher Training & Program Data will spend time:

  • Planning and executing packages for teacher training, including ongoing novice teacher training for non-Teach For America teachers
  • Designing and delivering summer Practicum trainings to support corps member development
  • Working closely with Managing Directors, Leadership Development to lend much-needed capacity to support corps member development.
  • Recruiting corps members and alumni to participate in additional professional development opportunities
  • Gathering and analyzing program effectiveness data to improve programming, elevate Teach For America’s story of impact, and make strategic decisions
  • Recruiting and managing part-time teacher development staff
  • Developing and stewarding partnerships with external organizations to increase our program participants' impact on student achievement


Your Experience

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • At least five years of experience in learning and development, professional development design, data analysis, and/or novice teacher coaching
  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Significant experience setting strategic visions and managing others to reach ambitious goals
  • Ability to quickly develop and cultivate relationships with diverse internal and external collaborators and support them in contributing to a shared goal
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Able to speak to and model our core values and commitment to racial equity and belonging
  • Track record of getting results while leading multiple projects and/or work streams simultaneously


BONUS (preferred Qualifications)

  • Strong existing knowledge of the education system and landscape in Florida
  • Strong existing knowledge of Teach For America’s Practicum structure and programming

Your Compensation

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
