We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Director of Email Marketing to join our Marketing team at our Bethesda, MD headquarters. In this leadership role, you will be instrumental in driving our vision by delivering relevant, content-rich emails and behaviorally targeted lifecycle marketing. You will oversee a team of production strategists and developers in the development, testing, proofreading, and deployment of email campaigns, ensuring their successful execution from start to finish. Your role will also involve leading A/B testing strategies, creating marketing automations, and performing rigorous quality assurance checks. As a key collaborator, you will work with various departments across the company, providing a holistic view of our business and leveraging your email marketing expertise to enhance our overall strategy. You will report directly to the VP, Performance Marketing.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor the email marketing team to support Total Wine's monthly promotional calendar.
- Develop and execute Total Wine's Email Lifecycle and Personalization Marketing strategy, including data flows and email automations.
- Oversee execution of creation and execution of emails, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as Digital, IT, Creative, Marketing, Merchandising, etc. ensuring flawless production, hitting KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) and delivery
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Mobile Push Strategy.
- Ensure timely production and delivery of email campaigns by maintaining and adhering to production schedules.
- Conduct thorough quality assurance checks, including link checks and approval tracking, making necessary corrections to ensure accuracy.
- Oversee the hand-coding of HTML emails, list segmentation, and campaign setup.
- Partner closely with Consumer Insights team weekly to drive sales and optimizations through testing and measuring offline and online sales.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Computer Science, Communications, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Marketing, with a strong focus on building, coding, optimizing, and deploying email campaigns.
- Expert knowledge of an enterprise-level ESP, with an extraordinarily strong preference for Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience. Proven experience troubleshooting issues with an email service provider (ESP).
- Proficiency in email coding – HTML, CSS, AMPScript or a similar dynamic scripting language, and SQL.
- In-depth knowledge of email marketing best practices, including targeting and A/B testing, deliverability/inboxing, sender score/reputation, CAN-SPAM regulations, and metrics.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a record of accomplishment of process improvement.
- Proficiency in Excel (including complex functions), PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience managing high-volume email campaigns with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proven people leader with a record of accomplishment of inspiring and leading teams.
