The Communications Office serves Punahou, both in its entirety and its individual functions. It publicly represents the school in communicating with both broad and targeted audiences through a wide variety of media and efforts. Communications staff leverage specialized skills and experience in design, writing, photography, digital media and other disciplines, and apply best practices throughout the phases of concept, production and execution.
Punahou School is actively seeking a Digital Designer who will primarily be responsible for developing creative design solutions from concept to final execution that strategically translate and support Punahou communications strategy in the digital environment. The position will work on existing digital platform requests as well as on new projects in development, elevating the brand through design with ideas that are sophisticated, iconic, and that keep Punahou on the cutting edge. The Digital Designer will partner closely with the Digital Director on strategy and implementation.
Position Details
Work Year: 12 months
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Occasional nights and weekends depending on operational needs.
Starting Hourly Rate*: $25.84/Hour
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts or related field.
Seven (7) years of digital agency/design studio experience; editorial, digital in-house experience preferred.
Strong experience using website administration/CMS, WordPress, etc.
Experience with end-to-end website design, from sitemap through wireframes, design, and user testing.
Strong experience with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify.
Experience with designing for and administering email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Sendgrid
Solid knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Bridge)
Strong understanding of HTML, DHTML, CSS, and web optimization
Basic knowledge of Javascript is also a plus.
Knowledge of designing for new and emerging platforms
Ability to ideate strong concepts and demonstrated ability to implement and execute concepts
