Summary:
Summit Ridge Energy is seeking a Design Engineer to support the Origination and Project Development teams. The Design Engineer will focus on developing site plans, single-line diagrams, and energy models. The position is based out of our headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, and reports to the Director of Design Engineering.

In the past six years, Summit Ridge Energy has deployed over $1.6B USD into clean energy assets. With a development pipeline of more than 2 GW, Summit Ridge Energy will have more than 400 MW of PV online by the end of 2024, providing solar power to 50,000 homes and businesses.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Create preliminary site plans showing existing constraints, equipment placement, and civil & electrical features
- Oversee the creation of single and three-line drawings for interconnection applications
- Guide the creation of 30% and 60% design sets for internal and external stakeholder approvals
- Oversee the creation of bid set drawings for contractors with project-level bill of materials and basis of design for modules, racking, fence, electrical equipment, tree clearing, BOS, and other features necessary for bid sets.
- Create and validate energy generation assumptions for & estimates using PVSYST
- Visit project sites to assess project feasibility and validate design assumptions
- Review work by third-party consultants and contractors and provide detailed written responses which address contractual and project performance requirements.
- Coordinate with third-party independent engineers who will review design, energy models, and performance testing.
- Maintain equipment database and up-to-date technical information on frequently used equipment.
- Tracking incoming requests for project designs and progress against deadlines. Determine resource and time requirements for response and manage outsourced services if necessary.
- Communicate and coordinate with clients and partners (upstream) and contractors, consultants, and outside developers (downstream) to support successful project execution.
- Support business decisions and risk assessment through analysis, schedules, cost, and performance in the context of project goals and metrics and the overall goals of the company.
- Other associated duties as assigned.
Must-Have Skills/Competencies:
- 4-year college degree required in Engineering.
- 1-2 years experience.
- Ability to thrive in a challenging and autonomous environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and adherence to deadlines
- Keen interest in solar energy and energy storage projects and operations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- EIT (Engineer in Training) certification preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD and PVSYST is required. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and PVcase is helpful
- Authorized to work in the US
