Job Description: Senior Data Scientist, Researcher

Overview: We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Scientist to join our team and drive innovation in the media and entertainment industry. This role focuses on leveraging data science to improve our product offerings in video, music, and podcasts. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in industry research and data annotation, combined with a strong background in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis. Your insights and recommendations will directly influence product enhancements and strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Industry Benchmarking and Research: Conduct comprehensive research on industry trends and competitive analysis to inform product development and strategic direction.
• Annotation and Data Analysis: Utilize annotation skills to label and organize data for analysis, ensuring accuracy and consistency in data handling.
• Model Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain predictive models using tools such as Python, R, and MATLAB to support business applications and decision-making.
• Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work closely with stakeholders from various teams, including design, engineering, and business, to understand requirements and translate them into actionable data insights.
• Performance Tracking: Create and track performance metrics for models and data-driven initiatives, continuously seeking ways to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Incorporate new data sources and methodologies to enhance model performance and usability, providing feedback for ongoing product and process improvement.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues with data systems and processes, ensuring data integrity and system reliability.
• Data Visualization and Communication: Turn complex data analysis into clear, actionable insights and present findings to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Professional Background: At least 4+ years working as a Data Scientist, with experience in producing models and analytics for business applications.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in machine-learning and statistical modeling techniques (e.g., random forests, gradient-boosted regression, LASSO, logistic regression).
• Programming Skills: Advanced programming skills in languages like Python, R, or Scala, and experience with version control systems like Git.
• Data Visualization: Expertise in data visualization and presentation, capable of turning complex analysis into clear insights.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Agility and Adaptability: Ability to prioritize needs and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Annotation Experience: Proven experience in data annotation and the ability to apply this to enhance data quality and model training.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Industry Experience: Background in video, music, podcast, audio, or media industries, with a deep understanding of content engagement and user behavior.
• Advanced Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative modeling and statistical analysis skills, with a sophisticated approach to using statistical tools.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience collaborating with software development teams, data scientists, and business intelligence professionals.
• Leadership Communication: Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, providing strategic insights and recommendations.

Salary Range: The salary for this position is between USD $120000 - $130000 annually. Factors that may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
