AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA is seeking instructors with experience in any/all styles of dance (ballet, tap, jazz, modern, ballroom, hip-hop, contemporary, and historical/period dance) as they relate to performance mediums for actors, singers, and dancers.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintaining current knowledge in subject matter areas as it relates to various disciplines of Commercial or Concert Dance
Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules
Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grading student work
Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics both online and in-person
Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member
Maintaining accurate academic records
Utilizing online classrooms and sustaining student engagement via Canvas
Consistent communication and accurate reporting
Qualifications
Master's degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree (required) in a related field; commensurate performance/professional experience may be considered
Candidates should have relevant teaching experience in a higher education setting
Experience with Canvas LMS preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning both in-person and online
Performance Credentials
AMDA differentiates itself from other performing arts colleges by having students learn from "working faculty." Applicants must have performance experience within the industry; preference will be given to instructors with recent / current performance credits.
Experience with a variety of styles, and periods, is a plus.
Position Information
The regular schedule for this role is based on department needs.
The pay range for this position is $40/hour - $60/hour. For administrative and tasks assigned or approved outside of classroom teaching hours will be paid at a standard hourly rate of $35.
This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
This is a fully in person role.
