A leading UHY client is seeking a Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will have solid GL accounting experience, HR experience, and some supervisory experience (strongly preferred but not required).
The Controller role is an onsite position. This is a client direct hire position.
Controller Responsibilities:
Accounting:
Monitor and follow up on outstanding invoices, reconcile accounts, and ensure timely collection of payments from clients or customers.
Assist in the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, and provide analysis on variances between actual and budgeted figures.
Prepare regular financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for management review and regulatory compliance.
Utilize accounting software and other financial systems to record transactions, generate reports, and streamline processes.
Stay informed about accounting standards, regulations, and best practices, and ensure adherence to internal policies and external requirements.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Human Resources:
Coordinate performance appraisal processes, provide feedback and coaching to employees, and assist in the development of performance improvement plans.
Identify training needs, design training programs, and coordinate employee development initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge within the organization.
Develop and update HR policies and procedures, communicate changes to employees, and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Stay abreast of employment laws and regulations, and ensure HR practices, policies, and procedures comply with legal requirements to minimize legal risks and liabilities for the organization.
Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations
Maintain HR systems and processes
Analyze trends in compensation and benefits
Design and implement employee retention strategies
Controller Skills:
Solid understanding of corporate accounting principles and practices
Experience using accounting software VIP and some QuickBooks
Knowledge of debits, credits, and general ledger entries
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
Controller Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or combination of relevant education and experience
3 to 5 years of accounting experience preferred.
Proficient at accounting software.
Proven knowledge of distributor accounting principles, practices, and standards.
Strong Excel knowledge and skillset.
Experience with ERP systems preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Strong growth mindset and a desire to take on further responsibilities.
Overseeing the work of all office employees to ensure they work productively and meet deadlines and company standards
Counseling any employees struggling in their roles
Reporting office progress to senior management and working with them to improve office operations and procedures
