Chief Financial Officer

A great UHY client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have an active CPA, Non-Profit experience, strong Finance and Accounting experience, and leadership experience.


The Chief Financial Officer position is a hybrid position with 2-3 days onsite per week. This is a client direct hire position.


Chief Financial Officer Key Responsibilities:


Financial Strategy and Management:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide timely reports to the Board and senior management.

Financial Operations and Compliance:

  • Manage all accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and tax filings.
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization.

Risk Management and Audit:

  • Assess and manage financial risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Implement and monitor effective internal audit processes.

Strategic Planning and Leadership:

  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues.
  • Advise the Board, Executive Director, and senior management on financial planning.
  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the senior management team.

Non-Profit Expertise:

  • Apply knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with donor restrictions, grants management, and reporting.


Chief Financial Officer Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of accounting and finance experience
  • Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial management role within a non-profit organization.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting, financial management, and reporting standards.
  • Experience in managing audits and working with external auditors.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, ethics, and commitment to the mission of the organization.
