General Description

The TANF Career Advisor supports job seekers receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) with their journey back into the workforce. The advisor assists clients in career exploration, job preparation, and job search activities to ensure successful employment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual assessments to understand job seekers' skills, work history, and career goals.
  • Develop personalized job search strategies based on formal assessment outcomes.
  • Assist job seekers in creating and updating resumes and cover letters.
  • Provide guidance and support on completing job applications.
  • Offer interview preparation, including mock interviews and follow up.
  • Teach job search techniques on various job board platforms to job seekers.
  • Use career assessment tools to evaluate a job seekers job readiness level.
  • Facilitate career exploration activities to help job seekers identify suitable career paths.
  • Provide information on local labor market trends and in-demand industries.
  • Develop workshops and training sessions on various career options and required qualifications.
  • Track job seeker work ready activities and maintain accurate records in compliance with TANF program requirements.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on job seeker placement outcomes and job retention.
  • Monitors customer service and response time.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and/or MS 365.
  • Strong data entry skills and ability to maintain information in various data tracking systems.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire job seekers.
  • Successful experience working with the public in a positive and professional manner.
