General Description
The Career Advisor assesses customer candidacy for available training opportunities, enhances job readiness and connects qualified candidates with job-placement services within the Workforce1 system by exploring career paths, career coaching, workshop facilitation and screens clients for training and advancement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Recruit and screen qualified candidates for enrollment into various (no-cost) training programs within, but not limited to, transportation, industrial and manufacturing sectors
Assist job candidates in exploring career paths
Develop and deliver sector specific workshops/curriculum for job-seeker candidates
Coordinate training program specifics tracking data and post-training outcomes
Identify current job openings that match candidates’ skills and interests
Review resumes and assess candidates’ eligibility for specific job openings
Assist candidates in preparing or revising resumes for specific job openings
Conduct workshops to help build candidates’ skills and improve their chances of employment
Follow up with candidates to obtain placement information and provide retention support
Input data into database and generate reports on job placement and retention results
Identify trends of retention in both training and employment
Qualifications
College degree preferred in related field or equivalent work experience
Minimum 1-2 years experience in the workforce development, social services, human resources, teaching or advisement fields
Strong academic background and in-depth knowledge of vocational training programs and initiatives offered across New York City
Ability to assess individual skills with precision and make appropriate referrals
Ability to problem solve and work with a diverse customer base
Comfortable manipulating, tracking and reporting on various data points in Excel and/or Customer Relationship Management systems (CRM)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Results-oriented
Fluency in Spanish and English is preferred
Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 Annually
