The DC-Metro Site Team is seeking a Business Manager to support Microsoft’s engineering presence in the DC-Metro area. This role is a unique opportunity to leverage your program management skills, operations acumen, and ingenuity to make a positive impact at scale while increasing Microsoft’s brand awareness in the DC-Metro, supporting a vibrant employee experience, and driving community engagement partnerships. This role will report into the Director, Employee and Community Strategy and ensure Microsoft’s DC-Metro engineering community is grounded in excellence and an employer of choice in the region.

Responsibilities
Program Management & Project Management
Develop and execute project management plans to drive program governance, including impact statements that drive towards clarity and help quantify impact.
Document and continuously provide input to refine and implement best practices across all projects for consistency and optimization.
Create documentation related to programs, best practices, and learnings in order to easily repeat and scale initiatives.
Facilitate program debriefs for internal and external stakeholders documenting process, outcomes, and learnings. Collaborate with the Director, Employee and Community Strategy to identify and fulfill required resources to support projects.
Prepare budgets, manage expenses, maintain notes, and track documents to ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Communications
Overall management of internal communication channels and platforms, including Teams channels, email inbox, newsletters, SharePoint content.
Develop compelling communications campaigns about ongoing program initiatives, identify key audiences, and ensure content reaches target audiences.
Manage development and distribution of an internal monthly newsletter.
Manage development and distribution of communications for site-related programs and updates to help drive engagement and awareness, e.g., new hire onboarding, lunch and learns, volunteer opportunities, etc.
Maintain distribution lists.
Relationship/partnership management
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, e.g., community partners, local university contacts, engineering teams present at the site, Employee Resource Groups, HR, Corporate and Legal Affairs, Corporate Communications, and other site teams within the East & Gulf Coasts region.
Maintain healthy rhythm that encourages regular engagement via communications or live touchpoints to build transparency and collaboration.
Vendor management as required.
Event Management
In partnership with the Director, Employee and Community Strategy, manage the design, planning, and execution of in-person and online meetings.
Lead the delivery of signature events: the holiday party, annual internal learning conference, community development events and monthly events like the lunch and learns, networking engagements, and Employee Resource Group collaborations.
Attend and provide onsite event support —Anticipate attendee needs, mitigate risks of logistical failures, and ensure effective reporting of problems and challenges.
Develop and deliver post-event debriefs of wins, losses, and lessons learned.
Operate conferencing and meeting platforms such as Microsoft Office Teams, managing logistics and problem-solving as needed.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 4+ years of experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
OR equivalent experience.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
5+years of experience managing creative, event-based, or program-based projects
Experience in project management with a record of successful event planning
Organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
Proofread written communications and draft short correspondence, memos, statements, and posts
Technology skills, including organizing and facilitating large meetings via Microsoft Office Teams and other technology
Intermediate level of experience in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft product suite (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Outlook)
Business Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
