Job Summary
The Business Development Manager - Logistics reporting directly to President of The Apparel Logistics Group, will be responsible for identifying and generating leads for the third-party logistics (3PL) business. The Business Development Manager working collaboratively with Commercial Services will determine business development strategy and execute it. You will be responsible for understanding the clients’ requirements to ensure that the operations team are solving the client’s problems. You will be responsible for creating a sales pipeline, maintaining the database of prospective clients and ultimately converting prospective clients. As a growing business there is tremendous development opportunity and requires an entrepreneurial spirt.
Essential Functions
Develop, execute, and oversee a sales pipeline strategy, including prospecting & cold calling to grow with direct-to-consumer, wholesale and omnichannel customers.
Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of partner-driven customer acquisition strategies, regularly assessing progress against targets.
Identify potential partner companies and businesses that align with our target market and objectives.
Initiate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders in partner organizations, fostering trust and collaboration.
Engage with prospects through various channels, such as cold calling, email campaigns, social/digital networking, events, and conferences, to create meaningful connections and promote our services.
Collaborate with partners to develop joint value propositions and marketing strategies that promote our warehousing and fulfillment services.
Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly.
Work cross-functionally with internal teams (operations, marketing, sales) to develop tailored solutions that address customer needs and challenges.
Generate detailed reports and present findings to senior management, offering insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing, supply chain management, logistics or relevant fields.
Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce).
Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems a plus (i.e. Manhattan WMis – PkMS)
Independent self-starter with a strong desire to consistently advance the goals of the organization.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Project Management
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities under tight deadlines.
Extremely service focused and views clients as partners, looking for ways that both sides are successful.
Strong communication skills, with ability to represent Apparel Logistics to sell the services and company.
