The Associate Librarian for Public Services is responsible for enhancing the library’s impact on its patrons through reference assistance, marketing/outreach, and oversight of access services. The Associate Librarian remains current on trends in legal information and technology and works closely with other librarians and the Director of the Law Library in the performance of his/her duties.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Provide individual legal reference services to members of the law school community
  • Author research guides, finding aids, and instructional materials
  • Manage and support two Circulation Supervisors
  • Communicate with the law school faculty to support their research interests
  • Train faculty research assistants as needed
  • Conduct library programs and tours
  • Coordinate library outreach services to student organizations
  • Collaborate with other librarians in selecting materials for purchase


Education and Experience

  • Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from an ALA-accredited library school, or equivalent
  • Juris Doctor preferred
  • Law library or comparable experience
