Associate Executive Director

Job Description


We are seeking a resourceful and dynamic leader with proven progressive experience to lead the day-to-day operations of a growing member services department and provide leadership support for the Group Executive Director. This position is directly responsible for the implementation and management for membership growth and retention for the branch with a strategic focus on customer services. The Cecil County Y currently serves 8,500 members and is experienced rapid membership growth over the last 18 months (89%). The Associate Executive Director will promote the Cecil County Family YMCA by participating in community events and enhancing the member services provided at the branch. The incumbent will supervise the Wellness Director, membership depart and Stay & Play to create a cohesive member services department. The Associate Executive Director will also provide supervision and leadership to administrative staff at the branch. The incumbent will work closely with the Group Executive Director, Association Marketing & Communications staff, and other branch staff in collaboration to increase and retain membership.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three or more years experience in membership and marketing is preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments


of the community.


  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.
  • Must understand the basic concepts of a voluntary, non-profit organization, as well as the structure of the YMCA as a partnership of volunteers and staff and accept a commitment to the YMCA mission.
  • Employee must have working knowledge of a Mac environment, Gmail, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certifications required within the first week of hire: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens, Defensive Driving, Hazardous Communications, Child Abuse Prevention, and Appropriate Touch.
  • Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen. This position must have the ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.


Essential Functions


  • Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  • Create and maintain a retention plan to promote membership growth.
  • Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas (Welcome Center, Office Staff)
  • Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
  • Develop a high functioning member engagement team that consistently focuses on delivering a strong member engagement and member experience.
  • Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and on-going training of staff.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Develop effective working relationships with service groups, community organizations, and companies, including making presentations.
  • Write drafts of program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with membership and marketing plans and work with the Association Marketing team to produce and distribute the information.
  • Build, monitor and maintain annual department budget.
  • Participate in YMCA annual campaign.
  • Provide program data and reports in support of planning processes.
  • Establish monthly and annual goals with supervisor.
  • Participate as a committee member in one of the cabinet teams relating to work.
  • Model behavior consistent with our core values.
  • Follow systems, practices, and training related to risk management and safety of participants and staff, and follow accident report procedures and policies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
