Job Overview

As Associate Creative Director (Copy), you have at least 5-8 years of agency experience under your belt, are growing in your creative leadership abilities, and have a track record as a seriously talented copywriter. You know how to focus on the details while still considering the big picture and are equally at home crafting solutions for both print and digital tactics. You’re a storyteller and a persuader; you can romance a brand or drive home a sale. You can confidently handle multiple projects simultaneously, help lead presentations, and are focused on strengthening our team. 

 


Responsibilities and Duties

Creative Competencies


  • Leads concepting for every piece of creative that client teams work on to meet LIFT’s standards of excellence
  • You have a strong reputation for bringing premium, professional copywriting experience (either at an agency or in-house for specific brands) 
  • You can develop exceptional messaging solutions with great speed, flawless accuracy, and on-point direction with no guidance beyond a creative brief
  • You have deep knowledge of the best messaging approaches for each platform and a wide variety of formats, and you understand which tactics will be the most effective and compelling by channel (recognizing the difference between social media, email, print, etc.). 
  • You understand the needs, motivations, and hurdles relevant to your audience
  • You understand direct marketing and know which tactics get better results are comfortable communicating your knowledge to the team at every opportunity
  • You have a deep attention to detail with the ability to edit your own work
  • You have a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and Google Workspace/Drive
  • You work closely with your Creative Lead, as well as Account and Strategy, to ensure the Creative Brief makes sense ahead of kicking off work with the broader team and help inform the team of the best ways to incorporate a client’s tone and style into the work itself 
  • You are very comfortable presenting your own work with confidence, explain your rationale, and both welcome and offer positive, constructive feedback
  • You are capable of leading strategic and conceptual development and can clearly convey the creative vision to designers and copywriters and keep the work on track
  • You have a strong ability to review creative and provide clear and objective feedback on both copy AND design
  • You routinely bring creative inspiration to the team and happily host brainstorming sessions to spark inspiration


Project Management Skills  


  • You effectively balance client and agency demands for on-time, on-budget delivery with support from other Creative Leads and the Group Creative Director
  • You are organized and know how to create starter documents or presentations to help keep the team organized and projects moving forward
  • You review Account and/or Client feedback before assigning it to the team to ensure that it’s clear, actionable, and not likely to be misinterpreted 
  • You keep the work moving by providing timely feedback, vetting deliverables through proofreading, and following our process 
  • You have a good understanding about the utilization levels of our team, and actively work to keep them and yourself focused either on client work, internal agency projects, or career development


Communication Skills


  • You are a refined and confident client contact who is indispensable to stakeholders who directly seek creative feedback and guidance from LIFT
  • You care about building positive client relationships and are a flexible, adaptable partner for them to work with 
  • You are effective at knowing which questions to ask and how to push back during kickoffs, presentations, and when receiving feedback
  • You are comfortable participating and leading brainstorm sessions, and bringing new ideas, techniques, and concepts to the table
  • You raise concerns in a timely manner to the Creative Lead or GCD and address any potential issues as early as possible
  • You maintain composure, strong focus and sense of urgency in high-stress, time-sensitive situations to help the team feel supported and confident

  • You partner well with co-workers and clients of all disciplines, titles and work styles and take the initiative to understand them

  • You are a master at juggling multiple projects and deadlines, and can reprioritize/change directions on the fly as needed

  • You actively manage individuals: 1:1s, defining and tracking goals and driving employee engagement
  • You see everyone's potential, challenge top talent and proactively manage poor performance 
  • You create actionable plans accompanied by effective, ongoing dialogue with team members (including providing difficult, timely feedback)

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this full-time position is $125,000 to $160,000 + valuable performance-based benefits. This is based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the candidate, as well as the requirements of the position.
