Large Food Manufacturing plant in Hartwell GA is looking for a strong and stable Assistant Plant Manager.


Looking for someone with the following:

Need someone who is hands on with the floor members

Someone who can coach and mentor team members

Someone who is strong with process improvements and lean manufacturing

Someone who is tech savvy as well

Someone who is open to growing and developing

Bilingual would be a plus as a lot of the team members speak Spanish


Day Shift role working alongside the Plant Manager


Salary Range is between $80k-$100k Salary with a 11% Target Bonus


Assistant Plant Manager

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, is responsible for managing production supervisors while maintaining production schedules for all customers. Oversees all aspects of production including manpower, raw material, equipment functionality, safety, employee expectations, raw material rotation, and overall sanitation practices by performing a variety of tasks in the processing of raw materials for the pet food, pharmaceutical and feed industries, by performing the following duties:


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Coordinate and direct the staff members regarding the activities that need to be performed in the absence of the Plant Manager

• Manage production, maintenance, communicate with suppliers and customers regarding orders, on time deliveries, new product development (in cooperation with and under the guidance of commercial department) and product compliance

• Streamline production processes by analyzing product flow, testing procedures, cycle times and waste reduction

• Perform capacity planning and efficiency maximization studies to make optimum use of equipment and available manpower to ensure better productivity

• Evaluate equipment functionality, safety, and sanitation and report any deficiencies to Plant Manager

• Monitor and confirm daily, weekly, monthly adherence in raw material reconciliation, finished good cycle counting and finished good inventory accuracy.

• Monitor and confirm daily, weekly, monthly adherence to raw material and finished goods FIFO (First In First Out) schedule.

• Lead in the training and development of employees by managing performance and creating an environment in which they have the opportunity to succeed.

• Ensure plant employee communication methods are in place to ensure good communication with all employees is effective.

• Ensure cross training is being effective in all work areas to include any succession planning activity.

• Demonstrate leadership in the implementation and support of a safety focused culture

• Adhere to all safety guidelines and wearing of all required safety gear (PPE)

• Adhere, support, and enforce all company policies and procedures

• Complies with attendance guidelines of the company

• Comply with all food safety/quality related programs and procedures accordingly to support GFSI and regulatory standards


MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Ordering and scheduling a raw material inventory

• Lead continuous improvement activities and creation of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) to facilitate training of employees.

• Maintain, compile, store and retrieve any data and information related to production

• Understand the needs and concerns of employees and resolve issues with the assistance of the HR department

• Participate in job and safety training offered and required by the Company

• Maintain good housekeeping of work areas

• Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

SKILLS ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES • Electrical and mechanical instrumentation is preferred

• Microsoft Office including Excel

• Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred

• Service oriented

• Ability to communicate with people across all organizational levels

• Ability to work as a part of a team and treat coworkers with respect

INDUSTRY TECHNICAL AND WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE • Experience in the following areas:

o Leadership

o Process improvement

o Project management

o Production equipment and processes

o Production Planning and Scheduling

o Meat processing industry and an understanding of pet food raw material and sanitation practices is desired but not required
