We are looking for a Director of Architectural Design with a broad set of skills, and desire to participate in all aspects of the design process, from concept design to contract documents. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate design concepts with clients and all Upscale Remodeling stakeholders.
Position Summary:
The Director will create design concepts, develop designs, and produce construction drawings. They will also provide design services to clients, advise the Kitchen and Bath Design Manager, and offer technical support. Responsibilities include managing project designs from initial client interview to design completion, specifications, and permit submittal. The position involves producing preliminary and working design documents for the production handoff package. The Architectural Designer coordinates closely with the Kitchen and Bath Designer, Project Consultant, Estimator, Project Manager, and the client.

Design/Architecture Responsibilities:
Collaborate with clients and project teams to develop architectural designs and concepts.
Create detailed architectural drawings, plans, and models using various design programs (e.g., Auto Desk, 3DS Max, 2020, Revit, Chief Architect, Sketchup, etc.).
Responsible for all stages of assigned projects including preliminary design, design development, and handoff to production staff.
Research and specify items and materials needed for each project.
Review designs with internal partners - Kitchen & Bath Designer, Project Consultant, Estimator, and Project Manager for construction feasibility and cost impact.
Develop working drawings including electrical and mechanical plans, and window and door schedules.
Recommend finishes, fixtures, materials, and miscellaneous items unique to each job.
Visit job sites when necessary to resolve design issues as required.
Maintain current knowledge of construction codes and implement changes as required.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of design trends, cabinetry trends, building practices, and technical applications including design software.
Foster positive communications and relationships with clients, vendors, and team members.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field with 5-10 years of experience, preferably in residential architecture.
Experience with various design programs (e.g., Auto Desk, 3DS Max, 2020, Revit, Chief Architect, Sketchup, etc.)
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Ability to translate concepts into functional construction designs
Excellent communicator with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong understanding of building codes & requirements.
Creative imagination and practical understanding of construction.
Previous experience working with residential clients, assessing their needs, and translating their ideas into plans within budget.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with vendors and fellow employees.
Strong sense of planning with fluctuating building materials and construction costs.
Experience in residential remodeling is not required but highly desired.
