Applications Chemist

They are seeking a talented Applications Chemist to join our dynamic team and contribute to the formulation and application of our advanced polymer solutions.
Position Overview: The Applications Chemist will be responsible for formulating and optimizing emulsion-based polymer products for a variety of applications. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Applications Chemist will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions, conduct application testing, and provide technical support to customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in polymer chemistry, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience with emulsion-based formulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize formulations of emulsion-based polymers for various applications, ensuring performance, stability, and compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct laboratory experiments and application testing to evaluate the properties and performance of polymer formulations.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality control teams to scale up formulations from laboratory to production scale.
- Perform testing and analysis of formulated products using techniques such as rheology, particle size analysis, and stability testing.
- Provide technical support to customers, including troubleshooting formulation and application issues, and recommending solutions.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to emulsion-based polymers and their applications.
- Document and maintain detailed records of formulation processes, experimental data, and testing results, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
- Assist in the development of technical data sheets, safety data sheets, and other documentation to support product commercialization.
- Participate in customer interactions, providing technical expertise and insights related to product development and application.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, applying best practices and innovative solutions to enhance product performance and manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3-6+ years of experience in polymer chemistry, with a focus on emulsion-based formulations.
- Strong knowledge of polymer science, emulsion chemistry, and formulation techniques.
- Experience with laboratory testing and analysis of polymer formulations, including rheology, particle size analysis, and stability testing.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a detail-oriented approach to work.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to polymer products and chemicals preferred.
