ANNOUNCING SEARCH FOR BDC PRESIDENT/COO POSITION

The Business Development Corporation (BDC), based in South Bend, is initiating a search for candidates to succeed its accomplished and successful President Beth Wittling.

BDC serves as an economic engine in Northern Indiana and Southwestern Michigan, helping secure SBA 504 loans for entrepreneurs and business owners to further grow their companies. Established in 1982, BDC has originated hundreds of Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 loans that have fueled economic growth, grown employment, and improved quality of life in the region. BDC has strong financial resources; experienced and capable staff; and a Board of Directors with extensive business lending and community knowledge.

BDC’s current President has been with the organization since 2005, and in conjunction with the Board of Directors, supports a thorough search process and ample time to support the incoming President in transition and acclimation into this leadership role. Among the President’s priorities include:

1.     Hands-on management of staff – and in some cases directly handling duties – in core lending functions, including ensuring compliance with SBA policies and procedures

2.     Close coordination with the Board of Directors, particularly officers, in accord with their oversight and supervision of the President

3.     Maintaining and growing relationships with BDC’s financial institution partners, with an emphasis on growing the number of SBA loans originated

Ideal candidates will have the following:

1.     A wide professional and business network in the Northern Indiana/Southwestern Michigan regions, including a positive reputation based on business and community involvement and leadership

2.     Experience and ability to work at a strategic level, coupled with capacity to work effectively on details critical to BDC’s mission

3.     Business lending experience, ideally SBA, with borrowers similar to those served by BDC

4.     A passion for growing and developing new business
