We are seeking a full time Administrative Director to join our dedicated team of passionate animal lovers at Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge! Our ideal candidate would be committed to becoming a longterm member of our team, and would be excited to work alongside other staff members to help our organization continue to grow.


Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge is a sanctuary for farmed animals who are rescued from abuse, neglect and abandonment. Located in Pittsboro North Carolina, the Refuge is home to over 100 cows, goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese who are provided with high quality healthcare, daily enrichment, and animal-centered homes. The Refuge offers tours, vegan cooking classes, and other educational programs designed to inspire a compassionate vegan lifestyle.


The Refuge is located in Pittsboro North Carolina about 20 minutes from Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Saxapahaw and about 45 minutes from Raleigh, Durham and Greensboro. Job responsibilities, qualifications and specifics are listed below.


Responsibilities

  • Marketing our programs & events via website, social media and email
  • Creating quarterly E-Newsletters in MailChimp
  • Maintaining merchandise and office supplies inventory, including volunteer supplies
  • Monitoring, re-channeling and answering emails sent to general email inbox
  • Mailing out merchandise, membership, sponsorship, and sustainer packets
  • Writing and mailing donor acknowledgement letters
  • Filing paperwork, updating and maintaining various excel spreadsheets
  • Monitoring activity and posting content in organization’s social media channels
  • Taking photographs and videos of animal residents and events
  • Organizing and leading vegan food sampling events, including applying for grants
  • Conducting bank deposits, coding receipts and delivering various reports to Accountant
  • Updating volunteer sign up pages
  • Leading ‘Volunteer of the Month’ program and yearly ‘Volunteer Appreciation’ event
  • Answering office phone calls
  • Sorting mail and paying bills
  • Keeping the office space clean and tidy
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Commitment to the mission of the Refuge
  • Knowledge of and passion for animal rights issues and veganism is strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to interact constructively with volunteers, staff, and the general public
  • Experience working with volunteers is strongly preferred
  • Resourcefulness and ability to work independently
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and meet time sensitive demands
  • Ability to learn and process new information quickly
  • Strong time management skills with ability to multi-task efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, and social media platforms
  • Experience with Squarespace, MailChimp, and Salesforce is a PLUS
  • Schedule flexibility to meet onsite program requirements; some weekend, evening and holiday hours are required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record


Job Specifics

  • Full time permanent position at 40 hours per week
  • Starting wage is $17 per hour
  • Schedule may include weekend, evening and holiday hours as needed
