Accountant
Job Overview: A dynamic and expanding hospitality organization headquartered in New York City is looking for a dedicated Accountant to join their team. This role is vital in supporting the group's daily financial operations and involves a variety of accounting and administrative tasks. The Accountant will report to the Senior Director of Finance and Accounting or the Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Maintenance: Keep precise and up-to-date accounting records, ensuring the timely completion of month-end activities, such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
- Data Entry: Accurately enter financial transactions, invoices, and other relevant information into accounting software or spreadsheets.
- Reconciliations: Assist in setting up and maintaining monthly balance sheet reconciliations for accounts such as Cash, Prepaids, Revenue, and Intercompany.
- Data Management: Organize and maintain company documents, financial records, and databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Bank Reconciliation: Help reconcile bank statements with internal records to verify transaction accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Reporting: Respond to management inquiries regarding financial results, special reporting requests, and other ad-hoc projects.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal policies, and relevant regulations.
- System Implementation: Participate in the implementation of new accounting software and systems.
- Task Management: Handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously, adapt to changing circumstances, and assist with ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1-2 years of accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
