24-25 Early Literacy Instructional Coach

Position Purpose:

Serve as a master teacher assigned to a caseload of teachers to contact, observe, and advise. Collaborate with other teacher support personnel to assist the teacher in aligning his/her practices with the District’s vision and mission. Support teachers in the implementation of district initiatives.

Required Certifications/Licenses

Wisconsin educator’s license

Valid driver’s license.

Formal Education

Minimum of Master’s Degree in education field.

Experience

Successful teaching experience or instructional leadership for at least 5 years within the last 7 years. Experience leading professional learning teachers focusing on best practices.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of best practices, Common Core, Next Generation Science, and Wisconsin Model Academic Standards, Wisconsin Assessments, NWEA-MAP, AIMSweb, PALS, Naglieri and other district assessments and instructional technology.
  • Ability to plan and design curriculum and assessments collaboratively, aligned with standards.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and professional learning for school improvement, data analysis, curriculum and assessment planning and mapping.
  • Ability to coach and train teachers in the application of the Educator Effectiveness System.
  • Knowledge of the North Star Vision and District priorities.
  • Ability to prepare and present teaching methodologies to teachers, parents and administrators.
  • Knowledge of differentiation to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Knowledge in culturally responsive pedagogy.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with selection of instructional resources and planning for professional learning.
  • Assist teachers in understanding curriculum and instructional practices.
  • Provide embedded professional learning.
  • Coaching including: meeting with individual teachers and grade level teams, to implement the RUSD Teaching and Learning Framework and Response to Intervention.
  • Providing professional learning including: teaching demonstration lessons, demonstrating classroom instructional technology and facilitating professional learning at staff, mentor, etc. meetings.
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Participates in New Teacher Orientation and Induction Nights and orients teachers to the Teacher Induction Program (responsibilities, schedules, policies, etc.) for the purpose of providing teachers information regarding program objectives, identifying training needs, presenting professional learning, and reviewing functions to coach and support all new staff.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (advisor (coaching) files, logs, etc.) for the purpose of demonstrating program benefits, providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Provide support for teachers in the use of flexible grouping practices, collaborative teaching team, parallel and alternative teaching practices), curricula with differentiation of instruction, progress monitoring with graphing of assessment data, and other research based inclusive practices.
  • Provide support to integrate knowledge of teaching practices and the wide range of students’ knowledge, skills and abilities in general education settings.
  • Keep administrators informed of classroom and school professional learning and resource needs. Information gained from communications between the Instructional Coaches and the teacher being supported shall not be used for the purposes of teacher evaluation.
  • Serve as an active partner with data teams, assisting building principal with school and grade level goal setting.
  • Participates in creating and delivering district-wide or school based professional learning.
