We raised money through the Boston Buddies Rescue surf team via Surf City Surf Dog, a dog surfing competition held annually in Huntington Beach. I trained my Boston Terrier, Magneto, to surf from August 2009, to October of 2009. Once we were ready, we participated in the surf competition and all proceeds went to charity. Education

I had the opportunity to speak to students from the Fullerton School District about what STEM is and how it applies to game development. There was two groups of students grades 5-8. The goal was to spread awareness to demographics that typically would not have access to such information. I stand by knowledge sharing with children at an early age to groom them for career success in the future. We focused specifically on low income school districts, minorities, and women.

Last last year I supported the 2016 Adventures in STEM Careers Pilot Program. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. I spoke to middle school students in sixth grade about how STEM applies to working as a game developer. I showed them a body of my work, the type of tools VFX artists use, and explained the relations between STEM and technical art as well as all other disciplines in game development.

    To Whom It May Concern,

This is in response to Terrie Denman’s request for a letter of recommendation for your currently available junior artist’s position.

    To Whom It May Concern,

This is in response to Terrie Denman’s request for a letter of recommendation for your currently available junior artist’s position.

Ms. Denman recently completed the Game Modeling and Animation course from The Art Institute of California-Orange County that I teach. Hence, I find myself in a position to give you a fairly informed opinion on her suitability for this junior position.

Out of the twenty-two students enrolled at the time, Ms. Denman definitely stood out toward the upper tier of the more talented artists in class. She easily adapted to using new tools and techniques. The class was mainly using 3dsmax and her switching from Maya to 3dsmax seemed effortless and instinctive. She also took on the more challenging tasks. During the in-class modeling midterm, students had a choice of modeling one of three objects. She took it upon herself and chose to model the more difficult choice. Ms. Denman was the only student that decided to tackle the character model and finished it with a strong level of competency.

When it comes to modeling, she seems to comprehend shape and form fairly well along with the understanding of edge loop modeling. As far as texturing, she has a good fundamental grasp of color and value with a very painterly style, which seems to suit the aesthetic look and feel of the World of Warcraft universe.

It is because of these qualities that make me recommend her for this junior position. A creative and talented work environment like Blizzard would enable her to polish and extend her creative artistic prowess to another level and at the same time enable her surrounding artistic peers to benefit from her prowess.

Once more, let me recommend Ms. Denman for your junior artist vacancy and assure you of her competence and suitability for this entry-level position.

    Sincerely,

    Chung Ho Kan
